About
Hi, I'm Martin. Wildlife photographer from Czechia.
By day I run a company from an office. Before sunrise and at sunset I disappear with a camera into the Czech countryside, sometimes Slovakia, once a year California or Oregon.
I got my first camera fifteen years ago, but wildlife only caught me in 2021. Since then it’s been my second job: not for the money, but because morning fog, an owl that doesn’t wait, and light that lasts three minutes will make my day more than anything in the office.
I shoot with a Sony A1 II. In the field I carry a 400/2.8 and a 200–600 (with a 1.4× teleconverter for longer reach), in the zoo a 70–200/2.8. Drone and 360° camera when it makes sense. On the side: a second body Sony A6700, 90mm macro, 50/1.2, 24/1.4, and 14mm for wide angles.
Shoot with me
Heading out for wildlife in the wild takes a plan, time, and sometimes luck. With kids and family it doesn’t always work out, so I’m happy to roam zoos, both Czech and abroad. Either solo for a quick day trip, or with the family: I shoot, the kids and my wife enjoy the day.
If you like the photos and want to try it yourself, let me know. We’ll meet at some zoo and go through the basics: working with glass, fences and bars, getting an animal out of view and into a frame. All you need is the will and a camera with at least a 200mm lens.
